On Tuesday, August 7th over 500 Lincoln City community residents and visitors gathered at Kirtsis Park for an evening of family fun and community interaction. This was Lincoln City’s first annual National Night Out, hosted by Lincoln City Parks and Recreation Department. The Lincoln City Police Department and other organizations came together for this community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood fellowship. This fun friendly event included live music, food, games, bounce houses, dunk tank and much more. A big thank you to everyone that came out to show the strength and unity of our community.

The City would like to thank everyone that participated in the July 5th beach cleanup. It was a great success and a lot of fun. We sincerely appreciate all you do to keep Lincoln City beautiful.
Hundreds of people who celebrated the Fourth of July at the beach were thrilled with the addition of live music.
Three summers ago, as I watched people on the beach celebrating the Fourth of July, a lone trumpeter played America the Beautiful and the crowd went crazy – clapping and cheering. That’s when I knew, we have to add music to our celebration of this great Country.
In addition to a beautiful day on the beach, residents and guests enjoyed the light, sun and surf friendly sound of Valley Soul followed by the reggae-influenced and Lincoln City-inspired songs of ZuhG. ZuhG was followed by Lincoln City guitarist, Richard Paris,and the rock & blues band, Unlikely Saints.
Bryan Nichols, a local entrepreneur who owns the Zuhg Life Surf Shop in Nelscott, is the lead singer for the band ZuhG. Bryan, who helped book the opening act, Valley Soul, is one of the driving forces behind the Lincoln City music scene and provides a tremendous amount of help identifying and booking talent.
The bands provided the soundtrack for a great day at the beach. Guests came to the stage and thanked us for the music. People clustered around the live music stage until Fourth of July classics took over for the fireworks show.
We are so excited by the success of these bands and are already looking forward to next year’s Fourth of July celebration.
It’s a beautiful summer. Find a little time to play. It‘ll put a smile on your face.
Ms. Martin’s 5th Grade Class
Ms. Martin’s 5th grade Class from Taft Elementary in Lincoln City, presented a plea for help at the May 22, 2017, City Council meeting.
The Class had a simple request that would have a big impact – Ban the use of plastic bags in Lincoln City. The students wrote letters and used a PowerPoint presentation to describe the local environmental impacts of plastic bags.

Urban Renewal Agency
The Urban Renewal Agency recently approved it’s priorities for the final three million dollar bond issue for the Urban Renewal District.
The two priorities are: 1) Undergrounding utilities on 101 at DeLake.
2) Fund the Economic Development Toolbox. These funds have been used for business expansion loans, business facade improvements, and business start-up loans. For more information about the Toolbox, please call Alison Robertson at 541-996-1207.
