DISASTER PREPAREDNESS: HOW READY ARE YOU?

The City of Lincoln City strongly encourages the community to educate and prepare for a disaster along the coast.  Take time to discuss with your family a plan that addresses all hazards we face such as wildfires, earthquakes, and tsunami’s.  Important plan items should address the following:

  • Who is your family emergency contact? (out of area or out of state) Make sure to help your children memorize the number as you could be separated during a disaster.
  • Where is your family meeting point?
  • What is your evacuation route?
  • Educate your family on the types of tsunami’s and warnings: distant and local.
  • Have “Go Kits” and “Stay Kits” prepared.
  • Keep gas tanks at least half full.
  • Keep emergency kits in different locations.
  • Have enough water, food, and medications to last at least a week.
  • Talk to your kids and become familiar with their school’s plan of emergency.
