Driftwood Library’s Dark and Storm Night Author Series – Chris and Steve York
On October 19th, Driftwood Public Library welcomed Chris and Steve York to their Dark and Stormy Night Author series.
Steven and Christina York are a writing couple and a couple of writers. Over the course of their careers they have written non-fiction and a wide variety of fiction.

Chris writes primarily mystery and romance, along with the occasional fantasy, science fiction, young adult, and action-adventure story. Before moving to the coast she worked at a technical writer and a freelance business writer.

Steve cut his teeth on science fiction and fantasy, and has branched into historical mystery, action-adventure, young adult, romance, and humor. In between he worked as a technical writer for Microsoft, and as a freelance computer writer. He also has a regular series of web comics, The Minions at Work (no relation to those yellow Johnny-come-lately guys), which has been running for more than 5 years.

This series wraps up on October 26th with a visit from author Anthony St. Clair.

City Wins Prestigious Safety Award

Bronze Safety Award

The City of Lincoln City received a Bronze Safety Award at the League of Oregon Cities annual conference last week.

CIS (CityCounty Insurance Services) presented the award to City Councilor Susan Wahlke.

CIS safety awards are based on a Total Time-Loss-Index rating known as DART (Days Away, Restrictions and Transfers).  DART was created by OR-OSHA and is based on trends of more that 200,000 employee hours – and if those injuries and illnesses were severe enough to warrant Days Away, Restrictions and Transfers.

The benchmark for a city to qualify for a Bronze award is to amass at least 55,000 total work hours before a loss time injury occurs to an employee.
