Hundreds of people who celebrated the Fourth of July at the beach were thrilled with the addition of live music.
Three summers ago, as I watched people on the beach celebrating the Fourth of July, a lone trumpeter played America the Beautiful and the crowd went crazy – clapping and cheering. That’s when I knew, we have to add music to our celebration of this great Country.
In addition to a beautiful day on the beach, residents and guests enjoyed the light, sun and surf friendly sound of Valley Soul followed by the reggae-influenced and Lincoln City-inspired songs of ZuhG. ZuhG was followed by Lincoln City guitarist, Richard Paris, and the rock & blues band, Unlikely Saints.
Bryan Nichols, a local entrepreneur who owns the Zuhg Life Surf Shop in Nelscott, is the lead singer for the band ZuhG. Bryan, who helped book the opening act, Valley Soul, is one of the driving forces behind the Lincoln City music scene and provides a tremendous amount of help identifying and booking talent.
The bands provided the soundtrack for a great day at the beach. Guests came to the stage and thanked us for the music. People clustered around the live music stage until Fourth of July classics took over for the fireworks show.
We are so excited by the success of these bands and are already looking forward to next year’s Fourth of July celebration.
It’s a beautiful summer. Find a little time to play. It‘ll put a smile on your face.
