Mayor Don Williams, on behalf of the Lincoln City Council, donated $50,000 to Local Charities.  Each year the Lincoln City Council awards funds to local organizations that help families and individuals in need.  Thanks to all of these great organizations who help som many people in our community.  2016 grant recipients.

Meals on Wheels.  Meals on Wheels is sponsored by the Oregon Cascade West Council of Governments and provides meals to vulnerable, older adults in Lincoln City.  Representing the Oregon Cascade West Council of Government Meals on Wheels program is Teri Hayden.

 

Angels Anonymous.  Angels Anonymous uses these donated funds to help those in need with immediate, basic needs such as rent assistance.  Representing Angels Anonymous is Theresa Simmons, Jim Davis and Dawn Bredimus.

B’Nai B’rith Camp.  The B’Nai B’rith Camp will use the donated funds to provide scholarships to local day campers from impoverished families.  Representing the B’Nai B’rith Camp is Ben Charton.

 

Helping Hands.  These funds will help Helping Hands aid approximately 90 Lincoln City residents get housing in a clean and sober environment.  Representing Helping Hands is Joyce Stuber.

 

The Lincoln City Food Pantry.  The Lincoln City Food Pantry is operated by the Coast Vineyard Christian Fellowship and helps 300 – 400 local families purchase food at a heavily discounted rate.  Representing the Lincoln City Food Pantry is Tillie Miller.

 

My Sisters Place.  My Sisters Place will use the donated funds to fund support groups and housing for women and children facing domestic violence.  Representing My Sisters Place is Lisa Norton.

RSVP Lincoln County.  RSVP Lincoln County provides services to older persons to improve and maintain health status, support independence and prevent premature institutionalization.  Representing RSVP Lincoln County is Teri Hayden.

BFEY Backpack Program.    The BFEY Backpack program is sponsored by Backpack for Kids/Lincoln City, Oregon.  The funds are used to provide impoverished children with a backpack of food for the weekends.  Representing the BFEY Backpack Program is Susan Wahlke and Bush Teague.

CASA.     CASA recruits, trains and monitors advocates to represent foster children in court.  Representing CASA is Theresa Denlinger.

Family Promise of Lincoln County.  Family Promise will use these funds to serve homeless and low income families with children 18 or younger within Lincoln County.  Representing Family Promise is Elizabeth Reyes.

 

The Lincoln City Warming Shelter.  The Lincoln City Warming Shelter provides a secure place to sleep, restroom facilities, hot food and dry clothing on freezing nights in the winter months.  Representing the Lincoln City Warming Shelter is Richard Musick.

      

Neighbors For Kids.  Neighbors For Kids will use the donated funds to provide scholarships for children who consistently attend programs in Depoe Bay but live in Lincoln City.  Representing Neighbors for Kids is Toby Win.

Northwest Coastal Housing.  The donated funds will be used to rehabilitate the Community room at the Ridge Apartments in Lincoln City.  Representing Northwest Coastal Housing is Richard Musick and Elizabeth Reyes.

Beachtown Charities Thrift Store, Inc.  Beachtown Charities Thrift Store will use the donated funds to install four large, solid bookshelves to shelve the donated books.  Representing Beachtown Charities Thrift Store is Joe Francis Calk, Donna Morris and Bryan Kirsch.

 

Also receiving a grant but unable to attend today’s ceremony is North End Senior Solutions who will use these funds to fund an adult day service.  These services engage and entertain seniors and people with disabilities while providing respite for their caregivers.
